TEGO

Japanese lettering in white that reads "Tego" on a red rectangle

TeGo is a humanistic Japanese typeface. Intended for display, it is best set at 24pt or higher.

The name TeGo comes from the Japanese word for hand (te - て) and language (go - ご).  It can be literally translated as hand language. Inspired by traditional Japanese calligraphy, TeGo incorporates tapered strokes and unique terminals - slight tics. These characteristics resemble the strokes of a brush. TeGo’s Katakana character set limits itself to straight stokes, as Katakana does not have the same brush calligraphy history as Hiragana.

Meant to work with Source Sans, TeGo features a relatively high X-height.

Hiragana - right
Katagana - left
